The SHAC and VFAA invite you to apply to Local Landscapes, a juried art exhibition! Applicants working in the genre of landscape art are encouraged to submit work capturing their favorite places around Michigan. Artwork should depict natural scenery, although it may include man-made structures, animals, people or abstract concepts. The theme is wide open, inviting artists to share their unique viewpoints and creative expressions.

Rules and Regulations:

  • Artists can submit 3 pieces of artwork. One entry of artwork equals one framed piece.

  • Artwork must be an original. No copies of other artist’s work, no prints or reproductions of any kind.

  • Artwork must not exceed 36” in any direction.

  • Art is not to exceed 36” in any direction. Art must have been completed in 2023 or after and not previously exhibited at a VFAA show.

  • Artwork must be framed and ready for hanging with wire securely affixed to the back. No saw-tooth hangers are accepted.

  • All work must be labeled on the back.

  • Art will be digitally reviewed for acceptance and will be judged for awards after intake. Artwork that is different that the submission photos will be rejected.

  • Submission of work to jury constitutes compliance with all VFAA exhibition conditions. The jurors’ decisions are final, and participating artists will be notified of jury results by email. Accepted works will remain as placed and will not be withdrawn until the close of the exhibit.

  • The VFAA reserves the right to photograph and reproduce all entries accepted into the exhibit, regardless of copyright. Photographs and reproductions will be used for promotional or educational purposes only.

  • Participating artists will be notified of the jury’s decision via email. Accepted artwork must remain as placed by the show’s committee and will not be withdrawn until the close of the exhibit.

  • The VFAA will handle all sales at the SHAC, taking a 35% commission. Artwork must be priced accordingly or labeled NFS.

Pricing and Awards-

Entry Fee: $45 (VFAA Members are encouraged to use their discount code for a price of $30)

Art Awards: 1st place: $300, 2nd place: $150, 3rd place: $75, plus honorable mentions.

Under Artwork Information, provide the title, medium, price, and size for each submission. Additionally, upload a high-quality photo of each piece. You MUST name your images before uploading them. Ensure your images are cropped so that only your artwork is visible.
