Frank James Fisher Solo Exhibition
The SHAC is proud to present a solo exhibition by Milford resident Frank James Fisher, whose ceramic artwork serves as a commentary on the true content of our daily lives and what we feel is important. His work thoughtfully explores the range of mass communication our society produces, giving a second voice to the headlines, promotional copy, logos, branding, and graphic design that shape our everyday experiences.
Fisher’s process involves both creating and accumulating a library of printing plates, which he uses to mark the clay with layered impressions. Graphics drawn from newspapers, advertisements, flyers, and logos cover the surface like wallpaper, forming a dynamic foundation for his work. This marriage of two-dimensional messaging applied to three-dimensional forms is central to his creative practice.
Through seemingly unexpected combinations, logos, handguns, product instructions, and headlines his pieces guide viewers through a personal journey of visual associations. By borrowing the language and imagery of American culture and manipulating it, Fisher builds a deeper narrative about life, encouraging reflection on the messages we absorb and the meaning we assign to them.
This exhibition invites viewers to look closer, question more deeply, and engage with the visual language that surrounds us every day.
